Natick Community Organic Farm

Saturday, April 30th, 2005

We went to Natick Community Farm this morning for the first time this season. I was really hoping for fresh eggs but there weren’t any available today.

I really like this farm because it has a lot of animals. Today we saw lots and lots of baby goats and sheep along with their mamas. We saw lots of chickens and a couple of cows. The turkeys didn’t survive Thanksgiving but new one should arrive soon. The pigs were turned into sausage but the piglets should arrive soon too.

Nathan had a great time feeding grass to the goats but his favorite parts involve the farm equipment. He was sad to learn that there were no hayrides today. They only do them twice a year there but I suspect he’ll mention it everytime we go.

Check out the rest of the photos on the the photo page.

Getting ready for the swim

Monday, April 25th, 2005

Ben was working from home today so he took his lunch break to come to swim group with Nathan and me.

Nathan really liked having Ben there. Last year he was always the first one out of the pool and today we had a hard time getting him out after everyone else was out.

The pool water is really chilly since it is a lap pool. It is much too cold for my comfort. They have neoprene vests and shorts for the kids which really help. And they are great fashion too.

Puddle Boots

Sunday, April 24th, 2005

Despite the rain early on it turned into a pretty nice day. We visited the Arboretum (or, as Nathan calls it, the ‘Arburrito’) for a walk down the pine trail. Nathan wore his red puddle stompin’ boots.

We left the trail behind and started bushwhacking our way down to the stream not long after Lisa took that photo. Nathan slipped and got mud all over, and he just hated that because he is very particular. So I had to carry him back, getting pretty muddy myself.

We got a good game of Pooh Sticks in at the bridge before heading home to give Nathan a bath. You can see more photos on Flickr.

Cool

Nathan came up with this super cool (and oh so original) way to wear his sunglasses (aka dude glasses) today. It seems like a glimpse into the future for us.

Yard Work

Monday, April 18th, 2005

Nathan helped us with some yard work yesterday. This year I have gotten more done in the garden than all of last year. It is so much easier because Nathan can entertain himself with toys or by digging for worms. He even helped me plant some panseys.

Here he is returning from a trip to the compost bin with some leaves. It was real work!

New bike

Monday, April 18th, 2005

Nathan got a new bike from Yaya this week. He takes bike riding as seriously as listeing to the iPod.

It is funny when we go around the block because if we see someone I can tell that Nathan is waiting for them to comment on his new bike. He is usually not dissapointed.

Nathan’s iPod

Wednesday, April 13th, 2005

Nathan takes listening to Moonshadow on my iPod very seriously. Moonshadow has been his favorite song for at least 6 months. It’s all he wants to hear on the iPod.

Nathan stayed with Rara Theresa and dooda Stephen this weekend, while Lisa and I were at Tim and Emily’s wedding. It was a great wedding. You can see our photos on Flickr.

Idaho hearts Napoleon Dynamite

Wednesday, April 13th, 2005

This is so funny. You need to have seen the movie to appreciate it, but read the text of this Bill in Idaho House of Reps.

Some favorites lines:

WHEREAS, the Preston High School administration and staff, particularly the cafeteria staff, have enjoyed notoriety and worldwide attention; and

WHEREAS, tater tots figure prominently in this film thus promoting Idaho’s most famous export; and

WHEREAS, Pedro’s efforts to bake a cake for Summer illustrate the positive connection between culinary skills to lifelong relationships; and

WHEREAS, any members of the House of Representatives or the Senate of the Legislature of the State of Idaho who choose to vote “Nay” on this concurrent resolution are “FREAKIN’ IDIOTS!” and run the risk of having the “Worst Day of Their Lives!”

Funny words

Thursday, April 7th, 2005

Nathan has a few persistant mispronounciations that I love. As far as I can tell every parent has couple of these.

Yogrit (aka Yogurt).

Tatar (aka Guitar).

Lisa likes what he calls his doctor - Dr. Goldsteam (aka Golstein).

What’s great about these words is he is absolutely attached to them. You can say “What kind of YOGURT do you want, Nathan?” and he’ll say “Strawberry yogrit.”
